About Me



Welcome and thank you for finding my little corner of the internet. 


I’m a multiple discipline artist. I work primarily in oils and oil pastels but use all mediums.


My favorite style is high realism/photo-realism but I do everything between that and abstract.


When I’m not behind an easel, I can be found throwing sparks and flames to fabricate or forge something out of steel.



Born artist



I am one of those lucky people who was born an artist.


My first memories are crayons in my hands, scribbling on paper before I knew what words were.


I drew on sidewalks with chalk and on my desk in school.


I filled hundreds of drawing pads with sketches of anything and everything while watching the world from the quiet corner of every room.

Inspirations



I discovered Rembrandt, O’Keefe, Vermeer and Van Gogh.


On my own, I learned to copy their styles, their use of colors and texture.


I studied them as people so I could understand who they were, their beliefs and the ideals behind the work. 


O’Keefe taught me what art is supposed to be.


Rembrandt was technique.


Vermeer was elegance and Van Gogh showed me an artist’s greatest tools are not his hands, but his mind.

Accomplishments



My career has included invitations to shows across the globe by Sheiks, government officials, politicians and corporations. 


My works are in the permanent collections of 4 national museums, and half-a-dozen state museums.


I have held over 40 solo exhibits of 45 pieces or more and been a part of over 60 group exhibits. I have won enough awards from national competitions to local exhibits that winning no longer has any importance to me.


 I have been a guest artist in colleges and high schools and have taught oil painting across the Mid-West.


I do commission portraits and corporate art upon request.
